JOB DESCRIPTION

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing network infrastructure. He/She ensure that data flows efficiently and securely between computers, servers, and other devices. The role includes configuring network hardware, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and maintaining network security. With expertise in routing, switching, and network protocols, play a crucial part in operations running smoothly and reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Network Infrastructure Management: Design, configure, and maintain network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. Ensure the availability, security, and performance of network services and resources. Monitor network performance, identify issues, and take proactive measures to optimize network performance.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve network issues in a timely manner. Provide technical support to end-customers for network-related problems. Collaborate with other IT team members to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
• Network Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
• Network Upgrades and Expansion: Assist in planning and implementing network upgrades and expansions to meet the organization’s growing needs. Evaluate and recommend new network technologies and solutions.
• Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure network configurations comply with industry standards and best practices. Stay informed about emerging network technologies and trends. Collaborate with the L1 support team to ensure efficient issue resolution and minimize downtime. Generate regular reports on network health, performance, and security metrics.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES AND COMPETENCIES

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.

Experience

• 5 years of experience working as a Network Engineer or in similar role.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols, technologies, and concepts.
• Experience with network design, configuration, and troubleshooting.

Skills and Certifications

• Familiarity with network security principles and practices. Hands-on experience with networking equipment from different vendors.
• Knowledge of routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, VLANs).
• Experience with firewall administration and security policies. good experience on ISIS, BGP, MPLS, provisioning and troubleshooting.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Relevant certifications such as CCNP, or NRS-2.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to participate in on call rotation for network-related emergencies, if required.

Certifications

• Cisco CCNP Security Certification or Higher is preferred.

COMPENSATION
The gross compensation budgeted for the position is ranging from INR 5 to 8 lakhs per annum (LPA). The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with skills, qualifications, certifications, trainings, experience and salary history.
