JOB DESCRIPTION

The L2 Cloud Engineer is responsible for the intermediate management and support of cloud infrastructure and services. This role involves working on cloud-based systems, ensuring their availability, performance, and security. The engineer will collaborate with L1 support and L3 specialists to maintain a robust cloud environment and resolve complex issues.

Key responsibilities

Cloud Deployment & Configuration

• Assist in the deployment and configuration of cloud services and solutions.
• Manage and maintain cloud environments across various platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Monitoring & Maintenance

• Monitor cloud infrastructure to ensure system health and performance.
• Conduct regular maintenance tasks, like patch management and updates.
• Implement and manage cloud monitoring tools.

Incident Management

• Provide L2 support for cloud-related incidents and service requests.
• Troubleshoot and resolve intermediate-level cloud infrastructure issues.
• Escalate complex issues to L3 specialists when necessary.

Security & Compliance

• Implement security measures and policies to protect cloud environments.
• Ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards.
• Assist in conducting security audits and assessments.

Automation & Scripting

• Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine cloud tasks.
• Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to automate cloud deployments.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate documentation of cloud environments, configurations, and processes.
• Generate regular reports on cloud performance, incidents, and metrics.

Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated with the latest cloud technologies and best practices.
• Participate in training and development programs.
• Suggest improvements to enhance the efficiency and reliability of cloud services.

Collaboration

• Work closely with L1 support, developers, and other IT teams to address cloud-related needs.
• Collaborate with L3 specialists on complex issues and projects.
• Participate in cross-functional teams for cloud initiatives and projects.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES AND COMPETENCIES

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications are a plus.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in cloud computing, with at least 1 year in an intermediate (L2) role.
• Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Skills

• Good understanding of cloud architecture and services.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, etc.).
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Should be self-driven

Certifications

• Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Google Associate Cloud Engineer) are highly desirable.
